Leeds City Council is launching a new service, “Leeds Employment Hub”(LEH), to work with NEET/potential NEET young people aged 15-24 to provide them with support to achieve positive destinations either in employment, education or training. The service provides young people with one to one advice and guidance, delivered by Level 3 or 4 IAG qualified Employment Advisers.
We are able to refer our students to this service and would like to maximise this opportunity as it has the potential to provide significant support in helping our students progress to positive destinations. Students who should be considered for referral are those who do not know what they want to progress onto next, or who have identified an intended destination (whether this is further education, higher education, apprenticeship or employment) but have not yet started making applications or have not been invited to interviews. To be eligible for referral the young person needs to live in a Leeds postcode and not currently be in any form of paid employment (either full time or part time).
To refer a student to this service, please complete this short referral form: https://forms.gle/PTX4hUXWmpySJG9B6
Janice Shaw will be monitoring form responses daily and will then make the referral to LEH. Before completing the form, please make sure you have discussed this with the student and that they are happy to receive this support and have their contact details shared, as the LEH Employment Adviser will contact the student directly.
Once the student is referred, here’s what happens next:
1. The LEH Employment Adviser contacts the student to arrange an initial assessment
2. Initial assessment takes place (This, and all subsequent meetings, take place in a location that is convenient for the student e.g. community centres, libraries, college)
3. The Employment Adviser meets with the student twice a month for six months to provide ongoing support
The LEH team is also able to deliver sessions to groups (subject to capacity) – so if you think this would be useful for your groups, please contact Janice to arrange this (firstname.lastname@example.org / ext. 4761).
